McCOY FAMILY NOTES

William McCoy fought in the Revolutionary War and was awarded a Land Office Military Warrant #3348 for 200 acres in Kentucky. William McCoy, Sr., and his wife Cordella or Cordilla, some say--had twelve children:
1) William McCoy, B. 1773
2) Ezekiel McCoy, B. 1775 D.1840 married Nancy Davis.
3) Walter McCoy, B. 1776
4) Samuel McCoy, B. 1782 D.1855 married Elizabeth Davis in Tazewell
Co., on 12 Aug 1801.
5) Nancy McCoy, B. 1784 married Thomas McColley.
6) Elizabeth McCoy, B. 1786 married William Scott.
7) John McCoy, B. 1788 married Margaret Jackson.
8) Daniel McCoy, B. 1790 married Margaret Taylor. Daniel is listed
in the 1880 Logan County Census age 90 living in the Eli Duty household.
Eli Duty was the s/o Daniel daughter Harriet McCoy.
9) Richard McCoy married first Betsy Adkins, married second Mary Ann
Chaney, married third Jane Allen.
10) Joseph McCoy, B. 1795 married Mary Maynard.
11) Benjamin McCoy, B. 1798
12) Randolph McCoy, B. 1801 married Mary Ann Stafford.
William McCoy was awarded a Land Office Military Warrant #3348 for 200 acres in Kentucky.
Samuel McCoy was born about 1782. He was the fourth child of William and ? McCoy (Some researchers say Cordelia). Samuel married Elizabeth Davis on 12 Aug 1801 in Tazewell Co., VA. Their children include the following:
1) Hiram McCoy B. 1803, married first ?, married second Chloe
Chapman Sansom.
2) Rebecca McCoy B. 1805. Never married.
3) John McCoy B. 1807, married Margaret Burress.
4) Asa McCoy B. 1810, married Eleanor Burress on 14 Sept 1832.
5) William McCoy, B. 1811, married Mary A. Burress, d/o Rachael
Burress.
6) Ellender McCoy, B. 1813, married Compton Stafford.
7) Phoebe McCoy , B. 1816.
8) Pleasant McCoy, B.1818
9) Benjamin McCoy, B. abt. 1820, married first Phoebe McCoy, d/o
Richard and Betsy Adkins McCoy on 31 Oct 1839. He married second Nancy
Robinette, d/o Nathan Robinette on 28 Sept 1851.
10) Lucinda McCoy, B. 1831, married Henderson Maynard 17 Mar 1842.
11) Allen McCoy, B. 1823, married Elizabeth Blankenship 9 Sept. 1841
12) Pyrrus--Pierce--McCoy, B. 1824, married Malinda Hunt d/o Thomas
Hunt on 5 Nov 1846.
13) Ulyssus McCoy, B. 1826, married Rebecca ? abt. 1847.
14) Uriah McCoy, B. 1827, married Elizabeth Rutherford abt. 1847.
15) Sarah "Sally" McCoy, B. 1829, married Randolph McCoy on 9 Dec
1849. He was B. 1825 and was the s/o Daniel.
16) Jane McCoy, B. 1833, married Risley? or Riley Roberts.
17) Thomas McCoy, was born in 1839 and died 25 Sept. 1857. Never
married.
After Samuel McCoy died on 28 July 1855, he was buried in the McCoy Cemetery in Stringtown. His will is on record in Pike County--Will Book A, p.42.
